Interested in our Internship Program?
At AD&V’s internship program you’ll be a part of an integrated team that values the importance of design and whose skills, artistry, commitment to social responsibility and attention to detail work together to create Places of Purpose and improve our world. If you’re thinking of applying and joining our team, here’s a list of 10 things you can expect from our Internship Program.
1. CREATING PLACES OF PURPOSE
AD&V interns have an opportunity to work on Places of Purpose. This means collaborating on projects that go beyond design and focus on value creation. Projects that create a sense of community, that are resilient, sustainable, and that ultimately transform people’s lives in a positive way.
2. SHADOWING
As an intern, you will shadow other AD&V team members and learn from our different types of projects that take place both inside and outside of our office. Projects such as organizing fabrics and materials in the interior’s library, sketching, designing, creating renderings, and visiting project sites, preparing presentations and more. Through shadowing, you will learn firsthand how we get the job done.
3. RESPONSIBILITIES
We know that beginning new internships can be overwhelming and that it takes time to learn new skills and processes. That’s why at the start of your internship, you will be given initial simple things to do and over time you will receive more responsibilities depending on your performance.
4. PAYMENT
We, at AD&V, do not believe in the decades long and illegal practice of hiring unpaid interns. We believe in fostering growth and making decisions that raise the bar within the profession. That is why it is important for us that everyone, including student interns, are paid for their hard work and service.
5. RESPECT
At AD&V, everyone gets the same treatment regardless of their job role. As an AD&V intern, you will be treated with the same level of respect, value, and professionalism as any one of our team members, clients, partners, and guests.
6. BECOME PART OF A THRIVING TEAM
Our interns become part of AD&V’s thriving team of highly experienced professionals who are dedicated to sustainable architecture and interior design that enhances people’s experience of the world. Our team is also culture oriented. We like to create initiatives and participate in activities that contribute to the greater good.
7. APPROVED HOURS
As part of our architecture internship program we ensure that a licensed professional certifies all your hours so that they count towards the Architectural Experience Program® (AXP®) that’s developed by NCARB and required by most U.S. licensing boards. We know how important these hours are for becoming a licensed architect.
8. ASSIGNED MENTOR
You will have an assigned Supervisor or Internship Program Coordinator to guide you during the internship. The person assigned to you will serve as your mentor, will help you succeed and prepare you for the real world.
9. GROWTH OPPORTUNITY
AD&V’s office culture revolves around personal and professional growth. In our constant effort to provide growth opportunities, we encourage our interns to participate in supplier meetings, workshops, and more. There is always room for growth, and we strive to be better each day. These experiences serve as an opportunity to learn and develop new skills you can apply to the future.
10. LEARNING EXPERIENCE
Our internship program can help you explore and determine whether or not you would like to pursue a career in architecture or interior design. It provides a hands-on experience to get a feel of what the real day-to-day activities are and immerses you into the architecture and interior design workforce.
