Each team member’s achievement is an achievement for everyone.
Companies who motivate, give focus to, and celebrate their team members often enjoy long-lasting success. If you’re looking to help your team succeed, here are 7 ways you can do so.
1. GROWTH OPPORTUNITIES
A way in which you can help your team succeed is by encouraging team members to keep growing and expanding their personal and professional skills and knowledge for their own benefit, and that of the team and the company. Create initiatives and opportunities for lifelong learning to help team members achieve their goals and dreams. For example, we offer our team regular goal setting meetings, industry lunch & learns, resources, coaching and mentoring opportunities as well as an annual budget to be used for training and/or professional development outside of the office. Encourage your team members continue to grow both personally and professionally to reach their maximum potential.
2. HEALTH & WELLNESS
Staying healthy and maintaining a fitness routine is not always easy when life and its pressures take a toll. You can encourage your team to stay healthy and motivated to achieve their fitness goals by providing health insurance benefits, a fitness stipend, and encouraging them to look after their physical and mental health. If your team members are feeling healthy and well, they will be happier and more productive.
3. THE RIGHT TOOLS & TECHNOLOGY
Make sure that every team member has the necessary tools they need to do their job efficiently. Check if they’re in need of extra materials, and if they know how to maximize new technology or software. Providing hardware and software for your team ensures they have the tools necessary to produce work you need from them. Having your team prepared helps avoid unnecessary anxiety, technical difficulties and other potential interruptions during work hours.
4. POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT
Celebrate your team members by giving them special shout outs for both their personal and professional achievements. During our weekly meetings, team members are given the opportunity to thank each other for everything that they do. Recognizing your team's efforts and letting them know that you care will keep pushing them to do the best they can and motivate them to keep growing.
5. LISTEN & COMMUNICATE
Be transparent with your team and keep them in the loop. Frequently check in with individual team members and project teams through group or individual chats, message postings, audio calls or video conferences to talk about work progress, answer questions, and provide feedback. Listening to your team members and having frequent communication will help avoid misunderstandings and keep everyone aligned on the same priorities.
6. TAKE ACTION ON THEIR FEEDBACK
Ask for your team’s feedback through surveys, suggestions boxes, or Q&A’s at the end of meetings or through email. We send out a weekly survey to each team member asking them to reflect on what went well that week and what was difficult. This is invaluable information that allows the leadership team to understand what is happening on a weekly basis, so they can pivot and adapt quickly if needed. Taking your team’s input into consideration is extremely important when it comes to improving company policies, as well as general systems and work processes.
7. PROVIDE A PRODUCTIVE WORK ENVIRONMENT
Provide your team a space where they can collaborate and work comfortably. Open and flexible spaces with standing desks, meeting spaces, substantial fresh air intake, and natural plants can greatly improve productivity and working conditions for your team. Additionally, access to nearby restaurants, stores, gyms and other amenities, are also benefits that can encourage your team to maintain a successful work-life harmony. Ensuring each team member is taken care of plays a key role in your team and company’s success. It’s important to invest and reward your people, share in their successes and commit to supporting them. By doing so, you're ensuring that both your team and your business continues to grow and succeed!
